First Citizens is a Friend of Mr. Biswas

Corporate Social Responsibility

First Citizens recently agreed to provide sponsorship for the preservation of the history and heritage of the Naipaul House as part of its corporate social responsibility. The agreement was signed at the Naipaul House by Karen Darbasie – Group Chief Executive Officer, First Citizens and the Friends of Mr. Biswas, a non-profit organisation.

The Naipaul House is a cultural landmark, rich in the literary traditions of Trinidad and Tobago and the wider Caribbean region. The objectives of the Friends of Mr. Biswas therefore, are that of maintaining the Naipaul House and managing and developing it as a Museum and International Study Library to ensure that it is an intellectual space consistent with the work of V.S Naipaul. Funds to execute its mandate are received from donations, annual subscriptions and covenants.

With an unwavering commitment to our local culture, First Citizens is proud of this partnership which will guarantee that future generations benefit from such an experience. The Group continues to take its responsibility as a leader in the regional financial sector very seriously and will endeavour to support such preservation as far as possible.
