First Citizens Foundation and TTMA team up to tackle gender-based violence
Corporate Social Responsibility
The First Citizens Foundation along with its partner, the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturing Association (TTMA) donated electronic items to the Gender-Based Violence Unit (GBVU) of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS). This presentation formed part of the final tranche of infrastructural equipment required to outfit two of the GBVU sub-units located at the Sangre Grande and Roxborough stations.
The First Citizens Foundation through its Advancement of Women (AOW) Sub-Committee is charged with the responsibility of undertaking and supporting initiatives that assist in safeguarding and promoting the health and wellbeing of women and children. The Group is therefore pleased to be associated with such a project. The GBVU was formed in January 2020 as part of the TTPS’s mandate to end gender-based violence. The Unit forms part of the Special Victims Department within the TTPS which encompasses the GBVU, Child Protection Unit and the Sexual Offences Unit.
The First Citizens Group continues to recognize the strategic significance of positively impacting the social environment. As a leader in the regional financial services sector, the Group is committed to supporting the communities in which it operates by effecting social change through its Foundation and CSR Programmes.
