First Citizens Employees Spread Joy at Couva Children’s Home and Sophia House!

Press Release

All smiles with our volunteers at Couva Children’s Home and Crisis Nursey

Employees of First Citizens brought smiles to the faces of children at the Couva Children’s Home and Crisis Nursery and Sophia House of Port of Spain during heartwarming care and cheer visits held on Friday, March 22, and Wednesday, March 26, respectively.

In celebration of International Women’s Day (IWD) in March, First Citizens invited its staff members to “help give a girl a smile” by contributing to customised care packages for girls in the homes. Group CEO, Karen Darbasie expressed her delight at seeing the generosity and compassion of the employees in action, and noted the overwhelming support that allowed the Group to expand its efforts and deliver not only cheer to the girls but also relief to the homes by providing a wealth of supplies.

Sophia House’s House Mother Ms. Rodriguez expressed gratitude for the motivational sessions and engagement activities, noting their positive impact on the girls while Aunty Michelle, a caregiver at Couva Children’s Home, expressed appreciation not only for the gift of items but also for the quality time spent by employees with the children.

Kernella Rajcoomar, one of the employees involved, shared her sentiment, stating, “It’s been a truly humbling experience, and I’ve found immense joy in giving back.”

The initiative was further enhanced by the generous contributions of Pennywise Cosmetics and CGA Caribbean, who provided additional hampers, adding an extra touch of joy to the occasion.
