The First Citizens Foundation proudly announces the upcoming 2025 First Citizens Sports Awards, set for Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the National Academy for the Performing Arts, Port of Spain. Now in its 63rd year, the prestigious event continues to honour the nation’s finest athletes, celebrating excellence, achievement, and the powerful influence of sporting legacy.
Under the inspiring theme “Legacy Takes Flight,” the 2025 edition will spotlight the athletes whose journeys have elevated the standard of sport, inspired future generations, and propelled Trinidad and Tobago onto the global stage. As the awards soar into a new era, the programme will pay tribute not only to extraordinary accomplishments but also to the long-lasting impact of discipline, mentorship, and national pride.
This year’s theme, Legacy Takes Flight, reflects the Foundation’s commitment to honouring those whose contributions to sport continue to uplift and inspire.
Nominees Unveiled
More than 90 nominees across over 29 sporting disciplines have been selected for this year’s top honours, representing the very best in athletic prowess, commitment, and influence. These outstanding individuals will compete for the prestigious titles of the First Citizens Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year 2025.
The evening will feature spectacular performances, compelling storytelling, and the posthumous induction of distinguished sporting icons into the First Citizens Sports Hall of Fame. Viewers and guests can expect an inspiring showcase that honours a legacy of excellence while charting the path forward for future generations of athletes.
