FIRST CITIZENS GIRLS FIRST 2025 ENDS ON A HIGH — AND A NEW GENERATION IS READY TO MAKE THEIR MARK!
Press Release

The energy was electric, the stories were powerful, and the impact was unforgettable. First Citizens Girls First 2025 has officially wrapped, and with it, hundreds of girls from across Trinidad and Tobago are now boldly ready to make their mark on the world.
Held under the transformative theme “Make Your Mark,” this year’s Girls First experience delivered a powerful blend of inspiration, real-world learning, and unapologetic empowerment — positioning young women to lead change in their schools, communities, and futures.
“This year, we watched girls shift from asking ‘Can I?’ to declaring ‘I will,’ said Karen Darbasie, Girls First Founder and Group CEO, First Citizens. “Girls First 2025 lit a fire in these young women — and now they’re heading home ready to lead, build and boldly show up in the world.”
From keynote addresses to interactive workshops and open dialogue, First Citizens Girls First 2025 was a full-circle experience that celebrated every facet of the modern Caribbean girl — smart, creative, fearless and driven.
Highlights from Girls First 2025 included:
- Unfiltered talks with powerhouse women like Shevonne Metivier, Saelese Haynes, Raina Alleyne and Sonia Whitlock.
- Workshops in mental health hosted by Dr. Gabrielle Alexander (Trinidad) and Dr. Alina Williams (Tobago), personal safety hosted by Vidal Sealey, vision boarding by Letina Mata and financial literacy by Halima Muhammad (Tobago) and Ayana Ishmael (Trinidad)
- Pop-up zones where girls got hands-on with, wellness and leadership tools.
- Live challenges and giveaways that showcased the creativity and bold thinking of the Girls First Fam.
Girls left with vision, strategy, and a network of support that will fuel their next steps. “This wasn’t just about motivation — it was about giving these girls the mic, the toolkit, and the confidence to act. We can’t wait to see the legacy they’ll leave,” continued Founder, Karen Darbasie.
Girls First 2025 is part of First Citizens’ ongoing investment in the advancement of women, with the Girls First platform now expanding into digital content, mentorship pathways and year-round engagement.
