First Citizens proudly announces its title sponsorship of the 2025 Boys Big 5 Competition, a premier competition within the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) that brings together the top five schools from five zones, north, south, east, central, and Tobago, for an exciting display of youth talent, passion, and sportsmanship.

As title sponsor, First Citizens continues its mission to empower youth through sport — fostering not only athletic excellence but also the values of teamwork, discipline, and leadership that serve players well beyond the field.

Jason Julien, Group CEO, shared: “At First Citizens, we see football as more than a sport — it’s a powerful tool for shaping confident, resilient young men. Our support of the Boys Big 5 Competition reflects our commitment to helping students grow into future leaders, both in sport and in life.”

The First Citizens Boys Big 5 Competition season promises fierce competition among the nation’s top-performing school teams, aiming for the highest points in the round-robin format, where the best of the best will be crowned champions. The schools entering the First Citizens Boys Big 5 Competition are: Hillview College, Mucurapo West Secondary, Palo Seco Secondary, Presentation College, Chaguanas, and Speyside Secondary, Tobago. Throughout the competition, First Citizens will spotlight key performers and celebrate standout student-athletes through special recognition of the Man of the Match.

President of the SSFL, Merere Gonzales, commended First Citizens for taking the initiative to sponsor the highly anticipated 2025 Boys BIG 5 Competition. He said: “… as we celebrate our 61st anniversary this year, I am very pleased to have one of our invaluable and incumbent partners, First Citizens, taking the responsibility of sponsoring the Boys BIG 5 Competition. The tournament remains a very highly entertaining, competitive, and enjoyable aspect of our footballing calendar, since the five winners of the respective zones engage and compete for the top three positions that would be promoted to the SSFL Boys Premiership 2026.”

This partnership reinforces First Citizens’ ongoing commitment to youth development, education, and community empowerment — investing in the future, one game at a time.
