The nation’s biggest celebration of sporting excellence!
“Legacy Takes Flight” at the 2025 First Citizens Sports Awards & 2026 Hall of Fame.

The First Citizens Sports Awards represent the pinnacle of national sporting recognition in Trinidad and Tobago, celebrating excellence, dedication, and legacy in sport.
Under the theme “Legacy Takes Flight,” this prestigious event will honor the outstanding achievements of over 100 athletes who delivered exceptional performances during the 2025 sporting year, selected from 30 sporting disciplines across the country. These athletes exemplify discipline, resilience, and the pursuit of excellence, inspiring pride and unity among sports fans and communities alike.
The event will also pay tribute to the nation’s sporting heritage with the posthumous induction of four (4) distinguished sporting icons into the First Citizens Sports Hall of Fame, recognising their enduring contributions and the lasting impact of their achievements on Trinidad and Tobago’s sporting landscape.
Together, the Awards and Hall of Fame Induction celebrate past and present champions while inspiring future generations to carry the nation’s sporting legacy forward.

First Citizens extends a heartfelt congratulations to all awardees and remains deeply committed to empowering athletes, strengthening communities, and helping shape a future where every achievement contributes to a legacy that truly takes flight.
Meet the athletes who’ve given everything to uplift the red, white, and black—and etched their names into our sporting legacy. Across 30 sport disciplines, their stories reflect discipline, courage, and the pursuit of greatness.
Get ready to celebrate the nominees who prove that Legacy Takes Flight with every stride, stroke, and leap.

National Sporting Organisations (NSOs) of sport are invited annually to submit their nominations for Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year in the youth and senior categories. The NSOs are responsible for establishing their criteria for shortlisting and selecting from their pool of athletes four outstanding athletes (one each – male and female youth, male and female senior).
Successful athletes in the categories identified above must:
The Foundation reserves the right to add a nominee to the pool of nominees if it determines that a deserving athlete has been overlooked.
The Foundation also reserves the right not to consider a nominee who may have impacted the sport negatively, including breaches of anti-doping, match-fixing, and other disciplinary matters that may bring the sport into disrepute.
Named after a national sporting icon who achieved international recognition for her administrative competence and promotion of netball beyond national and regional boundaries.
Throughout several decades, Trinidad and Tobago’s athletes have provided amazing performances locally and internationally, bringing pride to themselves, their sporting disciplines and their country.
In 1984, the Sports Foundation launched the Trinidad & Tobago Sports Hall of Fame, to honour and celebrate our most distinguished sportsmen and sportswomen. The Foundation maintains the firm belief that the recognition of the performances of these fantastic athletes, who have made a major contribution to the advancement of sport in Trinidad and Tobago, is critical as both a social and cultural boon for the nation.
The public is invited to submit nominations for induction, in addition to nominations received from the National Sporting Organizations. These nominations must be accompanied by supporting documentation of performance or involvement in sport, for consideration. Once the nomination forms have been received, they are reviewed by the Sports Foundation committee, who then create a short list and make their final selections.
Induction into the Sports Hall of Fame may be from the following categories:
