Security Guidelines & Best Practices
We draw your attention to the following key customer responsibilities under the Bank’s Business Online Customer Agreement (“the Agreement”) and security guidelines.
- Personal Information (Codes and User IDs) – All Customers shall keep their Codes and User IDs confidential and shall not use their Codes and User IDs in a manner in which an unauthorized person may obtain same. If at any time this information becomes known to an unauthorized person, the Customer shall immediately notify the Bank.
- Authorized Transactions – The Bank is not required to verify any transaction with the Customer once it is a transaction initiated using their Codes and/or User ID.
- Use of Service – The Bank shall have the right in its sole discretion to limit, suspend or discontinue any or all the Services in keeping with the terms of the Agreement.
- Transfers/Payments – The Customer bears the sole responsibility for the accuracy and correctness of the Payments and of any and all instructions and or information forming part of or relating to the Payments, submitted to the Bank.
- Passwords – Don’t share your Business Online Banking Codes with anyone or write them down.
- No Personal Info Over Text – Never trust texts asking for Personal Information. Remember that legitimate companies including First Citizens will never text you asking for Personal Information and account details. If in doubt, contact that person or organization through another trusted channel.
- Don’t Click Links – Never click on hyperlinks that may appear in the messages or offer up sensitive information like your Personal Information or account details or card data.
- Check Sender – Be wary, if urged to pay or give out sensitive information/Personal Information, pause and verify, through a trusted channel, if the request is legitimate and trustworthy.
- Mobile Devices – Always keep your phone’s operating system and mobile browsers up to date to protect against malware hidden in malicious links and/or criminals seeking unauthorized access to your Personal Information and/or account details and/or card data and/or Codes and User IDs.
